This 2-day interactive workshop aims to provide hands-on practices and skills in communicating with the elderly and assisting them in their Activities of Daily Living such as personal care in hygiene, mobility, eating and toileting.
Course content and training delivery methodology includes demonstrations, discussions and hands-on practices to demonstrate the skills and knowledge in assisting with skin care, grooming, walking, lifting/transferring, using of mobility aids, showering, bed bathing, feeding including tube feeding and catheter care, measuring and recording vital signs and simple wound dressing.
Participants will also learn effective communication skills apart from the basic skills in delivering appropriate care for their care recipients.
This course could also serve to introduce caregiving as a career to those considering to join the Intermediate and Long-Term Care (ILTC) sector or voluntary work with the elderly.
