WHAT :
Short courses can range from 3 hours to as long as 12 weeks. The short courses touch on a wide range of areas including both life-skills as well as work-skills. Topics covered by the courses include, but are not limited to, business, media, IT, health and wellness and the arts.
WHO:
For short courses offered by PSEIs, Singaporean seniors aged 50 and above will receive a subsidy of 50% off course fee (capped at $500 per course). For courses run by community-based organisations, the final fee payable by seniors (both Singaporeans and PRs) takes into account the support given by the government to community-based organisations to develop and offer the short courses.
COURSE SUBSIDY :
Please note that the government subsidy will only apply to the course fee portion and will not cover GST. For instance, if the full course fee for a short course is $400 and the course subsidy is 50%, the net fee payable by the senior post-subsidy is:
($400 x 50%) [Course Fee Balance] + ($400 x 7%) [7% GST] = $228
Fees payable indicated on the NSA website are post-subsidy.
REGISTRATION PROCESS:
The registration process may differ depending on each course provider. Please note that successful registration does not guarantee a place in the course. Applicants are advised to read the course details or check in with course providers as to the detailed process for registration and information on notification of successful course placement.
SKILLSFUTURE CREDIT :
SkillsFuture Credit can be used on top of existing government course subsidies to pay for approved skills-related courses under the NSA. SkillsFuture Credit can be used to cover both the course fees payable and GST imposed on the course fees.
Please read the course details to check if the course is SkillsFuture Credit-eligible.
